Prahran Square is a transformation of Stonnington council’s old Cato St at grade car park situated just 5km south-east of Melbourne’s CBD.

As urban parkland, the Square offers open space for recreation, events, festivals and markets for surrounding residents, businesses, shoppers and visitors. The two-level underground carpark offers 500 bays for parking to service Prahran Square events, as well as the nearby Chapel and Greville St shopping precincts.

Park Agility worked closely with the council’s consultants, builders and project management teams, throughout the planning and development phases of the old carpark makeover, advising on the most accurate and cost-effective parking guidance solutions to meet their objectives. Council opted for individual monitoring of each bay, providing accurate parking data that allows customers to save time and emissions using directional wayfinding signage as a guide.

The parking guidance system improves the customer experience in addition to reducing congestion and traffic stress in an area that is busy and close to the CBD. Importantly, this optimises a Council asset for improved yield and rate payer value. Also including accessible and electric car-charging bays, the new carpark at Prahran Square offers a smart, efficient and green solution for the community from a forward-thinking Council.
